JK I like you little note towards the end about insisting on a key change..
interestedly nowadays key changes are rarely used.
When SAW/PWL were top of their game, so many of their songs had key changes (Modulations)
but rather than a half step up in the final chorus's they would split the verse and chorus up into different keys
and usually by 4 half steps, i.e. verse could be in A Flat and the Chorus could be in C often with a cleaver pivot chord or two to transition into the new key.
