I'm on record predicting Cardinal George Pell's innocence and the eventual over-turning of his conviction for what were such obvious reasons but not alone of course..numerous credible and clever legal figures said the same.

## My Italian journalist friend who is writing a book on Pell and the involvement of the dreaded Italian 'Ndrangheta (who have attempted to unseat Pope Francis)role in his conviction, their infiltration of police in Victoria, is having real problems deciding what he can, and cannot write. ## Why is it that the right wing and conservatives care more about false accusations than the left?. I think it's because the left see "false accusers"..most who are dirt poor and angling for compensation..as their natural constituency.

They both generalise to extremes. The left see everyone as a type - suppressed, victims of forces outside their control. The right everyone as a free moral and responsible agent; wherever people are in life is down to them. The truth is a mixture of both. But this doesn't suit our categorical minds; which tend to be wired to the left or right.

And so it goes on. God exists/doesn't exist. Covid is deadly/Covid is made up. Saville was evil/it is all a witch hunt. Prince Andrew is scum/Giuffre is a gold-digging whore. We all do it, to some extent. We should all resist it, as much as we are able to.

But it makes for less interesting posts so don't let's all do it too much
