Lovely guy - we intended to have dinner with another mutual friend but we agreed it a couple of years ago and never got round to it.

Most people don't realise how important he was but his urbane wit lives on.

Another legend gone. Name any 1970's BBC comedy and light entertainment programme and he probably wrote the theme tune.
I don't think we will ever hear such deft integration of wah wah pedal and classical string instruments ever again!
