TOPIC: Fry Ups

Fry Ups 2 Weeks ago
I used to love a fry up but with IBS they are now a no-no. Even with an air fryer UPF plays havoc with my gut.
I can understand why people are off fry up. It's hard to get decent sausages that are not packed with salt and fat. Oddly enough I am off bacon these days unless it's part of an Italian dish.

I hate hash browns with a passion but if you tried to swap them for something else, some cafe owners would charge you extra.

I think another factor is why young don't eat fry ups because it's requires cooking and prepping but Gen Z are happy to eat junk from fast food joints.

Even cererals can be loaded with sugar and empty calories.

Most people would agree that the English/Irish fry-up is both unique and excellent. On holiday/leisure breaks particularly, for basic energy (to cater for the activities to come) - but not when working, when bodily functions need planning for a scheduled/busy day.

On holiday I rather have kippers for breakfast or yoghurts with a fruit salad.

You are right, with IBS you need to plan meals and journeys.

How much prep does doing a fry-up take. Get sausages, bacon, mushrooms and hash browns out of the fridge and place in a frying pan after pre-heating the oil. Turn until brown on both sides.

I always feel that the mushrooms in hotel breakfasts are always too soft. I would much prefer them to be crispy. Also Bacon at hotels is usually pink as if its justs been passed across a grill for a few seconds. I don't eat bacon anymore, but when I did I preferred it browner or even crispy, like they do in the US. Don't get me started on baked beans. I hate them. The texture and the sauce make me retch. If there is baked beans on the plate the whole dish is contaminated and it has to be re-plated.

This in Gen Z Robbie. The generation who need Youtube videos for everything, even for changing light bulbs and fuses.

They rather look at Tic Tok than whats going on around them. I do hate crispy bacon; I like it pink and slightly undercooked, then again it's only for pasta dishes.

Mushrooms are basically water, then again I like them with some juicy steak or offal.

Aren't baked beans basically food for students and tight bastards or white borish middle class people who like pretend they are working class?

For IBS try a Keto based diet.
Cut out the carbs from a breakfast and load up with meat and eggs. Whatever you do use Olive oil and animal fats, not cheap veggie oils.

Know nothing about IBS, but if a healthy person can't throw a few well-sourced/top quality UK rashers and sausages on to a frying pan, every now and then - there's something wrong with the world. Beans and mushrooms too!
