strange lights - UFOs? 15 Years, 9 Months ago
I have an open mind on the whole UFO issue. I've seen several reports of sightings around the UK, usually involving glowing orbs in a triangle formation, but I'd never seen such a sight until this weekend.

Three red lights appeared very brightly in the sky over North Yorkshire, in triangle formation. They hovered silently for a while before one broke off and flew along the horizon before rising to disappear into the distance. The other two also faded away. Several people, as well as myself, witnessed this. I know of one person who contacted the local media, but there has been no report published.

I'm curious to know what these lights were. Any other posters had a similar experience?

Concerning the triangle lights, did it have have a red glow in the centre? The triangle crafts usually do for some reason.

Take a look here - Wikipedia has a good 'explanation'.

A lot can be said about UFOs.
Mainly "I want to believe!!!!!"(X3)

And I really do, but I don`t really.

Mart,

You can be 100% assured that UFO's do exist ( I have seen them and pointed them out to the public) but the trouble is that too many people jump the gun and assume the term UFO means 'craft piloted by aliens'. A ufo really just means it's 'unidentified', so after proper analysis they may have the status changed.

Concerning UFO's, a sharp eye really helps. My Dad spots everything, and I have inherited that. In fact I see too much I think:unsure: ! Some UFO's are very fleeting and the last one I saw tracked across the disk of the full moon then after a while, shot out into space REALLY fast:ohmy:. It was a real shock to see it, but the other pedestrians just carried on, missing this interesting phenomenon - seemingly more interested in their mobile phones. How many similar things are missed by the public?

To sum up my last sighting, there is nothing that I have been told about, learnt at school or heard on the news that explains the action of that point of light that whisked off into space. It does have an explanation, but to me it is unidentifed, it flew and it was an object, therfore I witnessed a 'UFO'. If it turns out to be a mundane object, then I will be happier than if it stays a mystery, because to me it did not sit right with what I know to be in our airspace.

For God's sake, it's not exactly conincidental that a lot of UFO sightings are near air bases. Not too hard to put 2 and 2 together...

There are some very well documented sightings - such as have been recently on Channel 5's series. These have had credible eye witness reports - often from different places seeing the same thing.

No idea what these UFOs are - they could be "future military projects" of course - but could they be "space tourism" ? Quite simply advanced people's who could make such fast moving and often silent craft would see us as quite quaint and simplistic in our way of life - therefore they would probably not want to interfere but just observe ( Karen Carpenter !!anyone )

If it does have anything to do with aliens they certainly do not want to make contact. It must be amazing for them to see our "wars" and "resource planning" here on such a bountiful planet......how on Earth can we mess it up so much........

SW, no, it is not too hard, but although the likelihood of a light in the sky near an airbase being an airplane is high, it is not always the case. Those 'Thai' lanterns are being sent up more and more nowadays and it just a matter of tme before one causes an accident.

My basic feeling is that there is a great deal we don't understand - and we take our species far too seriously.

If we were ants, would humans be bothered by our daily ant dramas?

So I suspect there is much much more out there than our tiny brains can ever understand and I think we'd be foolish not to accept that and move on in our daily antlike existences, coping with everyday dramas and not bothering to consider what happens when a big man puts his boot on us and squashes us all without noticing.

I tend to agree with you JK - well put.

Though I do think we can improve our "Antlike" life if we all took time to look after each other more.

I think EASTENDERS has had alot to do with the UK mental state of making every small problem into a HUGE CRISIS........

as the board's resident "Christian" I thought I would share this song called UFO by LARRY NORMAN ( who died a few months ago )

Larry lived in the UK for a while in a village called HAMPTON BISHOP in Herefordshire in the early 1980s.

Strangely his big hit album recorded at AIR in 1972 was called "Only Visiting this Planet" which spawned several songs which formed most of Cliff Richard's Christian recorded and live set. Superb songwriting I might add.

His death this year has been overlooked by the media in the UK - despite him headlining venues like the Royal Albert Hall - Wembley Arena - Dominion etc. though there is a tribute gig at the GREENBELT FESTIVAL next weekend where he first performed in 1979 with a band called....U2......and went on to play a few more times.

He wrote a song called "Goodbye FarewelL" which is one of the few songs written about death - and which is quite beautiful and can also be heard on You Tube here

PS These songs are better than Eastenders Mart LOL

what were these people smoking at the time?

Actually I really think we are about to get an open visit from aliens.

It's sheer arrogance to think we are the only ones in this universe-let alone the billions of universes that must exist in endless space. ( and infinity is a concept I find hard to comprehend !)

Visitors from other planets would be cautious of Earthlings-just look how deadly we are to our own !
