The BBC is now so terrified of any criticism from anyone that they nervously refuse to broadcast an appeal for starving injured children in Gaza in case some Jews get annoyed.
I warned you. That Ross/Brand climb down was the beginning of the end.
every time I see GORDON BROWN on TV it offends me - so if I complain about this I do hope they will remove him from our screens.
I know loads of people who turn over as soon as he is shown on TV. I dont think a PM has had such an effect since Maggie did during the miners strike and the poll tax row.
Jonathan Ross Radio show is good this morning - rather laid back but good music and some great interviews. Elbow especially.
Except - thanks a lot Ross, plays an awful version of Hooked On A Feeling, says "that wasn't the version I remember" and fails to give me a name check - COWARD!
I would hope when you are aquitted the TV show you appear on would be the Jonathan Ross show first. That would be a great place to do a first in depth interview describing the ordeal ( because it must be that ) of being falsely accused and having a media campaign against you.
BBC charity - if Mark Backbone Surgically Removed Thompson had been Director General during World War 2 I suspect he would have told the BBC not to report the holocaust in case they were accused by the tabloids of being biased towards Britain.
Maybe your last sentence, JK, highlights why they have decided not to broadcast the appeal. If they show it, are they supporting good over evil? By not showing it, are they supporting evil over good? You've pointed out that there are two conflicting sides, and the BBC are trying to avoid showing sides.
I think the BBC have to make their own decision.
People say they gave in to viewer pressure over Jonathan Ross when they should have stood their ground. Now they are being criticised for not giving in to viewer pressure (if there really is any) and standing their ground.
I believe that if the money goes to internationally recognised charities like Oxfam (who do not give money to governments, but spend it on their own projects) then it will go to the right place.
OK - what's the solution?
Simple, I would have thought.
"The appeal seems to favour the Palestinians; can you please recut it so it covers suffering children and families in Israel too please?".
End of problem.
