Sara Payne has been appointed "Victims Commissioner" in a move which should send chills down the spines of all right thinking people. While we have sumpathy for her losing her child, she has done nothing more than inflict her own bitterness upon the nation and encourage suspicion and paranoia.

In one sense, this grieving woman has been exploited by both media and government, instead of being able to cope with her situation and move on.

What are her qualifications for this post ?

Does this mean people who have lost money in the Stock Market crashes will now be appointed to the Head of Darling's Treasury Task Force.

After all they must have experience having suffered first hand.

Our country used to be democratic.

Under Brown he wants to appoint everyone.

That cant be good - even if the person was fantastic for the job.

We are now ruled by people we have not asked for.

The UK is now not a democratic state.

People like Mandy are foisted on us by Brown - people whom we have NOT elected to government.

No one has even had a chance to VOTE for Brown as Prime Minister.

Saddam Hussain at least held elections in Iraq.

Good grief JK have you had another fall and banged your head? I agree with JC. If Sarah Payne cares purely for the welfare of children she should really be stood on roadsides with placards asking motorists to slow down. What happened to her daughter was beyond comprehension but as rare as The News Of The Wprld printing something worth reading. And this campaign has been led from the very start by the NOTW. It prompted the gross naming and shaming campaign, which saw hoardes of stupid peasants marauding through estates looking for innocent middle aged men to assault. The peasants were most likely just the sort who would quite willingly stand in a courtroom and point the finger at the 'vile pervert' you wrote a song about. All fuelled by the NOTW, who as you yourself have said many times, couldn't care less about the victims including dead children.

I'm surprised you have published words of support for such a cynical media driven campaign, which of course will do nothing to protect children.

I hate the concept, agree with the negative points, loathe the government by tabloid aspect, hate the idea of victims having any part of justice (they will always be biased and understandably so but justice must be impartial) but...

the facts on all these angles do not allow us to condemn the lady herself without giving her a chance.

She may prove to be fair minded and helpful.

Her first move, in my opinion, should be to campaign for the VICTIMS of false allegations.

So far she hasn't shown any signs of fair mind or good reasoning. She's campaigned heavily for the naming and shaming of everyone on the sex offenders register, regardless of whether they pose a threat or not. She's been voicing her opinions for the last few years and comes across as very bitter and negative. I doubt that she will suddenly develope a sense of reason now that she's been given a position of influence.

Like many, she seems oblivious to the fact that people make false allegations. Her position is that victims must be given priority over the accused, even before it is proven that a crime has been committed. If the accused is acquitted, it means the criminal has 'got away with it'. Not a good or fair attitude.

I would say that that the EASTENDERS GIRL whose brother was stabbed or the LAWRENCE parent would be easily better than Sara Payne.

Good points JC. The fact that most children who are abused or murdered are done so in their own homes by their parents/stepparents, and more importantly by people who ARE NOT on the sex offenders register. Those who inflict physical abuse on children are NOT placed on any register at all. The case of Baby P immediately springs to mind. More children are at risk from physical violence than sexual abuse. Thugs who kill children with fists appear not to feature in Sarah Payne's 'Saviour of Little Angels' project.

Again...a good post from BR. Most registered paedophiles DO NOT kill children. Violent thugs do!! Sarah Payne's entire campaign is media led, and one can only assume that she has of course been walked like a stupid dog on the scent of some glorious stick thrown by the tabloids. I feel sorry for her as she's a victim all over again.
