TOPIC: Lord Ahmed 12 months in jail
#41495
Lord Ahmed 12 months in jail 15 Years, 2 Months ago
because he is high profile.
Wasn't using his mobile for 3 miles before the accident.
The police and judges love a celebrity.

12 weeks not months.

The Judge didn't say texting was a direct factor regarding the collision, if it was Ahmed would be looking at a tariff of some years.

Oh... by-the -way... Ahmed killed somebody due to reckless driving. That has more to do witht he sentence than "celebrity".

Sorry to put facts in the way of your "good story"

Maybe the view would be different if he hit one of your family whilst sending numerous texts at 60mph negotiating a motorway? Celebrity has nothing to do with it. He's a Lord, who should know better.

I think it's 12 weeks, JK. In which case it's a lenient norm.

Sorry all - you're right; 12 weeks, 3 months.

I still think it's ridiculous and simply because he's a Lord.

but that's not what happened- the judge admitted the texting stopped before the accident and had nothing to do with it and that he was not responsible for the death of the man.

the texting and the accident are not related.

tho I do believe in heavy penalties for texting while driving.

He hadn't sent any texts in the last few minutes. It doesn't mean he wasn't reading any or not tapping messages in. The fact he clearly wasn't watching what he was doing and where he was going, suggests his mind was not on the road at all but on something else, probably his mobile phone.

I guess he won't be able to threaten to block the Houses of Parliament with 10,000 followers for at last 6 weeks.

he's got off VERY lightly.

true Mike, but from what I gathered on Radio 4's pm was that it was accepted that he was not responsible for the death.

I was arrested at Heathrow last month, and driven to the midlands by 2 DCs.
On the motorway they generally drove at 80 mph, and the lady driver sent a number of texts.

Then as a citizen you should report this crime to the Police.

You have witnessed a clear breach of the law which could have ended up killing innocent people.

It is easy to prove because they keep text records at phone companies - and so the evidence will exist.

I think that if the Police are going to be "difficult" with you - then regrettably you have to pick up on EVERY single mistake that they make as well.

The driver should at the very least lose their license and be fined.

We should not as citizens of the UK accept the illegal behaviour of our Police Forces any longer. They act outside the law most of the time - and if Lord Ahmed is jailed for such an offence then so should these two police DCs.

As far as I can see until the public stand up and take on these criminals we will never improve society. We have all "walked by" on the other side.....

You're right in one way,but I'd rather keep my dignity than get into a 'tit for tat' revenge.

I'd be interested to know why you were being driven from Heathrow to the Midlands. ?

Don't tell me, they have a mini Guantanamo in Dudley !
