David Cameron said.... 15 Years ago
....that he was not going to go in for "yah boo politics" i.e. systematically attacking the government just for the sake of it.

so why is he making such a good job of doing so?

I'm not a fan of any politial party, but Mr Cameron is yet another example of someone getting to where he is by saying one thing, yet doing another once he is in place.

Examples please ?

What is yah boo politics.

My main gripe with Cameron is that he is too nice.

I think he should have savaged Brown BEFORE the economy got into such a mess. He let him off the hook .

A MAGGIE type leader is needed at the moment.

in fairness,BR I cannot quote any examples. However, he expilicitly said he would not engage in "yah-boo politics", i.e. the systematic attacking of the opposing party on every issue for the sake of it, but that he would seek to work with them where possible.

Maybe my memory is wrong, but he did make a big deal of that, but I see no evidence of it.

I just think he has been far too nice to Brown. I think the death of his child has also removed a little of his political fire. He has never stooped to personal insults as far as I can remember ? The smear campaign against him by New Labour led to him only asking for an apology - which he got. Many other leaders would have used that to create massive political capital.

The country is in such a mess and the Global Economy looks broken. I wonder whether he really wants to inherit such a mess......is his heart really in it anymore ? Certainly we need to get rid of Brown but I dont think Cameron will be able to turn the economy around for 10 years. At least he wont spin his way out of trouble - and I pray he will get rid of the Police state.

I would half the pay of the Police immediately. Earning £60,000 for a constable ( with no qualifications ) Is scandalous in itself - most of the time they spend filling out forms supposedly as well - and earning more than teachers and nurses etc.

Yes we need a Maggie. We need someone to destroy whatever is left of our industry and sell off the rest of our publicly owned utilities, Maybe Gordon Brown is a Maggie. Or do you mean that Britain needs an evil twisted and plain selfserving woman as leader.

I was unemployed for four years under the Thatcher government, but I still voted Tory because I could see the bigger picture. Of course some industries failed, but they were not in a healthy state anyway. Why should public money be wasted on a failing industry which will just continue to soak up yet more public money to stay alive? Trains operate much better since privatisation. I use trains a lot, before and after privatisation, and the service is much improved.

Mrs Thatcher upset a lot of people, but what she did was necessary for the long term interests of the country. As usual, the British people see less money in their pocket and lose their stamina.

As for Cameron. He has not resorted to personal insults. He is the leader of the opposition, and it is their job to oppose bad policy. This present government has never been short of bad policy. I'm sure if he stayed quiet he'd be criticised for that too.

I must say I don't like or trust any of them.
Last time I voted Lib Dem simply because they had been the only party to be against the invasion of Iraq and murder in our name of innocent people from the start.

Next time I'll probably do the same only because Vince Cable seems the only politician to speak sense.

I liked the Lib Dems under Charles Kennedy, but not keen on Nick Clegg.

It should have been Vince Cable as leader, but since they'd dumped Ming in a bout of ageism, they couldn't really replace him with someone of a similar age. Stupidity.

Not sure who I'd vote for this time.... possibly the Greens, but I'd need to read up on their policies first.

With politicians I think it's a case of choosing the lesser of the evils. I see Labour as the greatest evil, and I'll vote for whoever is most likely to remove them from power. I've not been into tactical voting in the past, but this government is so hell bent on destroying or controlling every part of our lives that I see their removal as the top priority. We can deal with whatever comes after .. after.

Al I totally agree with what you say.

I dont trust any of them BUT the current Junta is very evil and we need to get rid of them.

Cameron will only be a 4 year caretaker I think - during that time alot of things will happen and possibly we will see a big change in the Parties we can vote for......or not. But a change certainly.
