TOPIC: £92,000 !!!!
#44680
£92,000 !!!! 14 Years, 12 Months ago
To read somebody elses text on a little seen BBC News channel!

news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/8045414.stm

Foulkes was a little out of order given that he didn't really answer the questions (like all politicians I suppose), but £92,000 for an attractive newsreader on a minority news channel?

Time for the BBC to reveal the salaries of all their presenters.

This shows again how the MEDIA is just as Snout in Trough as any MPs.

Lets be honest - most MPs have a small salary seeing as their job is so important. They deserve expenses. The only discussion is how these should be run. It is a lack of organisation that has led to this silly situation.

On a day when we have the BIGGEST JOBLESS LOSS SINCE 1981 which has not featured on the TV News - we are looking at the WRONG NEWS. The EXPENSES is a diversion by BROWN away from the COLLAPSING ECONOMY.

£92,000 !!!!...it's not really that much is it ?

I mean some politicians spend more than that on fripperies and badger hunting at their second homes.

I don't think that's a massive salary at all and it is NOT "a little seen News Channel".

Average third division (league one) footballers get that salary too.

I see the hypocrites o this board are too quick to suck up to the BBC while abusing and criticising the MPs, govt etc. All in the name of trying to appear nice to the owners of this board. To say that 92,000 is not a lot is farcical. You are showing your true colours. Muppets the lot of you !

The average UK wage is £24,000 with the majority earning under £20,000.

League 2 footballers at Accrington have a basic wage of around £80 plus bonuses. League One clubs pay on average around £600 a week even with the big clubs in that division ( Leeds - Leicester )

£92K for reading something is very bad value for a public broadcaster. It is time the BBC had ALL its salaries in line with other public services like teachers and nurses. After all it is fully funded by the taxpayer.

If MPs only get £45,000 salary why should BBC employees get £92,000 for just doing their job. That is ridiculous money for a public servce broadcaster. I can understand it for "star performers" where they are rare ( Jonathan Ross - Paxman ) but for bog standard run of the mill newsreaders this is too much.

You usual interesting way of dealing with facts BR

What is the annual salary of an MP?
£64,766 as of 1 April 2009 Parliament.uk

It's not been £45k for some years. You really shouldn't believe everything you hear on the telly.

Oh... a newsreader's salary and an MPs are not actually connected.

Oh... newsreader's do a bit more than just turn-up to read the news. (though it's moot point, see above )

BR, the BBC is funded by the licence payer not the taxpayer.

Although most licence payers will be tax payers, and vice versa.

Irrelevant really. Bit like saying most taxpayers shop at Tesco's.
