bnp critiscised for stating a fact 14 Years, 6 Months ago
uk.news.yahoo.com/4/20091011/tuk-bbc-sta...terview-dba1618.html

Why are the bbc been critiscised for letting a BNP member come on tv and make a statement of fact. The fact is that Ashley Cole is of Afro-Caribean origin and thus is not ethnically british, the same as Rafal Nadal is not ethnically British. It doesn't mean to say that he is any better or worse for not been ethnically British. why are people so politically correct, next thing we will have to deny that people are black and it will be illegal to state people are black.

Ashley Cole isn't ethnically british, this is a fact, deal with it.

Well if it is true that the entire human race evolved out of Africa then the odious Nick Griffin is not 100% English either. I think this should be raised at the next BNP AGM. This little problem will keep them occupied for years.

Who said that the entire human race evolved out of Africa and if it did then there is obviously some shelf life in defining your origins. What defines britishness anyway and it is very arrogant of the british to assume that been called not british is an insult.

The press are so hypocritical to stick up for Ashley Cole. They are the first to criticise him when he has an affair and when he gets cautioned for been drunk and disorderley while his saintly Missus is climbing mount kilimanjaro.

the point is, what was the BNP reason for stating that Ashley Cole is not ethnically British? Ah yes, their policy of creating a separate class of citizens, the "ethnic foreigners" if they came to power.

their motivation behind that is very suspect.

They were asked a question and answered it with a fact. They didn't volunteer the information. The BNP aren't going to get into power, at most they will get a few council seats, mainly because the working classes are no longer represented by the labour party.

Who said that we evolved out of Africa?

I think you'll find it was the scientific community who said that.

Although I see no problem with this guy saying what he did on the BBC it's pretty clear it's meant to be a criticism of Cole and the BNP member is using the fact in some racially based manner.

He could clear this up by having a DNA test but he may not like the results.

The former right-wing politician Pauline Hanson who ranted in Australia for a few years about ethnic backgrounds and Muslims (as well as knocking Aboriginals which took some gall) had such a DNA test and after rambling on about her Scottish/Irish heritage (as though it was superior) was shocked to receive the results which showed ethnic strains from Turkey and the ME. (Bob Dylan has a set of Turkish grandparents !)

Is he also pointing to the ethnic background of the current Royal Family ?

How far back do we go to decide who is ethnically British. It is believed that, like other Celts, the original Brits were all red haired .. so is anyone without red hair not truly British? I recall a scientist saying how pheasants were not native to this country because they were brought over by the Romans. That made me wonder how many centuries a species has to live somewhere before it can be classed as a native.

I believe there was also a time when no people lived on this island. If so, then none of us are truly ethnically British.

On the everyone originating in Africa theory; I have my doubts purely on the grounds of the other many changes of opinion in the scientific world over the decades as more discoveries are made. Science is more a voyage of discovery. There is no such thing as an "exact science". Mostly it is calculated guesswork based on our limited knowledge so far.

I think that we should go back say 3 generations before accepting someone as british. I don't think that been born somewhere is proof that you ethnically belong to that country, otherwise Cliff Richard would be indian, as well as spike milligan and joanna lumley. If a dog is born in a stable, it doesn't mean that it is a horse.

If you are black then you are ethnically Afro-Caribbean and be proud of it. I don't think we should get bogged down with theories about 1 million years ago we all had relatives in Africa, get a sense of perspective. If you see a labrador dog, you don't say actually its not really a labrador because it had 1 ancestor 1000 years ago that was an alsation.

and why are the bnp obsessed by ethinicty? oh yes, cos they're fascists.

they don't like homosexuals like me either for that matter.
