yes..the biggest achievment is that he's a black man elected to the top job. I reckon that is the most monumental shift in US in a 100 years and cannot be underetimated. (but if I see bloody Oprah Winfrey touring the White House once more I'll scream..I think she's going to ask for her own room there).
If he gets his health care system even partly up that will be an amazing achievement. Still 3 years to go,,an awful lot can happen in that time.
Having several friends and contacts in the Middle East, I can say that Obama has achieved quite a major change in attitude towards the USA following his tour of that region. There was enormous mistrust and hostility towards the USA under the Bush regime. Now the vibes are entirely different. I would give Obama a major thumbs up for that. It's the underlying tensions which he has managed to soothe. Not all change is visible to the naked eye. He's laying some very good foundations. You need to look beyond the superficial.
again..a good post. Some of his speeches in the ME have been excellent and again I say-do not underetimate the effect of the US electing a black president especially around the world and in the Middle East.
It shows something we always knew...the majority of Americans are decent people..sometimes they lose their way.

This is good news ... but it is all talk, given the ongoing rhetoric against Iran (and now Yemen) ?
