ITN : Coldest Winter for 100 years !! 14 Years, 4 Months ago
Tonight's News at Ten is suggesting that this Winter is possibly the coldest for 100 years !

I wonder how the "Global Warming - Climate Change" Spinsters are going to spin this one ?

It looks as if their zenith in 1998 is looking like the peak for warm weather.

It is also very clear that the Climate can be guessed by the number of sunspots - e.g Sun activity.

For several years we had loads of sunspots and hot weather - then the sunspots disappeared and we have cold weather.

SIMPLES !

Yet we have the Government desperate to raise taxes since 1998 pretending that there is Global Warming - when all the evidence points the other way. In fact they went as far as PAYING a University ( East Anglia ) to falsify the evidence to back this up.

Luckily the rest of the World is not playing ball. We need to be greener - we need to stop polluting and we need to stop cutting down forests.

But to claim we are killing the planet by driving a car - or eating meat - is really wrong. Totally wrong. There should be NO TAXES on fuel. I would hope CAMERON will reduce the TAX on FUEL to ZERO per litre.

Get the woolies on because the weather forecasters say it is going to get colder !

I note how the media seem to have shut the fuck up about global warming over the last few days. They predicted a 'mild wet winter' with 'flooding in vulnerable areas'.

WRONG!

They'll come out of the woodwork again when we have one unusually warm day in March.

Watch that carbon footprint...oh...the only footprints here are in snow.

come on now, Global Warming trends are based on long-term averages and do not mean we won't have cold snaps from time to time.

They said on Radio 4 this is the coldest winter we've had in 13 years- is that the best they can come up with? 13 years is no time at all in the grand scheme of things.

I keep hearing that it is the coldest winter for 30 years on the radio, which is possible because I don't remember that much snow in my adult life, however when I grew up in the late 70's early 80's we had endless weeks with snow on the ground in the north midlands, so no way is it the coldest winter for 100 years. I don't know why ITN's 'facts' are so different to everyone elses.

Coldest winter for 100 years? A funny concept for anyone who remembers '62/63 or '47.
Almost as funny as how selective BR is being about which headline he presents as "factual". More usually he uses phrases like "media spin" {or maybe even just "good story...???}. The fact is that this is certainly the coldest snap we've had since 1981. Citing any year further back than that is
as redundant as it is inaccurate.

I remember 63.....

Anyhow - so far we have had a cold snap since mid December......it snowed on 17 December....

63 was exceptional - as was 47 - and those two will probably not be "beaten" by this - but in some ways if this continues for another 4 - 8 weeks it could be the "Longest" spell of cold weather for 100 years. Making this winter the coldest for 100 years.

This is what some weather experts are saying.

At the moment I would not bet against them.

We are in a "blocking" position and the Jet Stream has moved south by hundreds of miles. We are exposed to air coming from Siberia via Scandinavia and if that continues it may last until early March.

Poor ickle Southeners having to deal with the snow keeps all the news off the front page. I smell a conspiracy. Meanwhile in Scotland, its been chaos for 3 weeks now. No mention in the press untill now. I wonder why???
