Why did he do that?
Because he can't walk and chew gum at the same time. It takes a footballer two people to make one gesture.

Ha ha, yes, quite. (Mind you, as an ex-Chelsea player, maybe Bridge knew what horrible little herberts some of their mascots are. Take this example with the magnificent Steven Gerrard - he shows great restraint. I'd have clipped the twerp's ear!)

I did notice that he missed the young escort, but I also noted that all the other team members missed shaking that boy's hand too, mainly because he was standing so close to John Terry and the line was moving so fast.
I just found this video on Youtube. As we can see, the boy holds out his hand to the first player, and was missed so doesn't bother holding it out for the others.
