Yes, unfortunate. She strikes me as a really nice and decent person, but it's 2010 and still the spouse is supposed to stand alongside their 'hero' and look meek and supine. I long for the day when a leader says, 'My family is none of your concern, unlike me they're not standing for public office and they should be left alone to pursue their private lives'. End of. If the public - and media - can't handle THAT, then it's damn well not ready for more sophisticated voting!

She always looks suicidal to me (but then she is married to Gormless Gordon !)

Now he is out of power will she ditch him ?

She seems to be power hungry in her own right and GORDON was her meal ticket.

BROWN has such bad judgement in most things - poor bloke. He should leave the World Stage quietly and try to gain some dignity rather than squatting in Number 10 like a bad loser/

I actually think the media treatment of Brown has been appalling and I'm starting to think of not approving further posts that slag him off unfairly. "It's a good story" isn't good enough.

censorship on behalf of Gordon Brown - whatever next

sounds as if you have also been brainwashed by the Labour machine !!!

do you realise how strange your last post is when you allow people to slag you off on here...and you have been a REAL VICTIM of media crucifixion.......!!

Maybe you are empathising with Gordon - and yes the media in this country are like sharks when they sniff blood......not nice at all. That is why he should go quickly because he is inviting this sort of thing.

Nobody should like or encourage constant, mindless sniping BR and the "squatter" insults and perpetual nastiness in the media has offended me and, I suspect, many others. I actually think Cameron would be a worse PM than Brown but I don't intend to go on about it.

Pot calling kettle black springs to mind.

JK, you can snipe but we can't?

I agree that personal insults are unnecessary, but I've thought that even when you were continuously launching personal attacks on "Spoonface", JK.

Nothing like leading by example.

A few insults are fine, Dixie and JC, but not too many.

Brown's obliged by constitutional convention to stay where he is until something else is decided, so he's not 'squatting'. It's obviously an unbearable position for anyone to be in, regardless of whether you happen to like the man or not. By his somewhat mercurial temperament I think he's behaving pretty decently.

spot on,Pru.

Actually I have been positively surprised by the responsible and restrained bahviour of all 3 main party leaders.

There are a few people on here who, like certain parts of the media, have a hatred of Brown that seems almost pathological and obsessive.

(I say that as someone who is not usually a Labour voter and not a fan of Brown.)

What the hecketty heck is Sarah doing standing like a lemon by Gordon's side as he resigns??? Denis was nowhere when Thatch went, and quite right. 2010 and we still have this nonsense! Keep the spouses private!
