TOPIC: District 9 - Wonderful film

District 9 - Wonderful film 13 Years, 8 Months ago
Watched the DVD of District Nine - surely one of the best films from the past few years yet it has done nothing. How and why do such excellent movies get ignored?

Eh? It got loads of coverage at the time of release, and has so far grossed about $205,000,000. Anyway, I agree, it's a really good movie. The last third went a bit too formulaic for me, but it's a fine and clever sci-fi allegory.

Yes and I see it was Oscar nominated last year; these things tend to fade as I get older... very little short term memory remains. Who are you exactly Pru?

got this out from the dvd section of my local library..having never heard of it and must admit the South Arican accents first put me off until I was drawn in. It's a wonderful film and the lead actor is superb.

Brilliant direction and so many subtle messages.

I agree - he should have won Best Actor Oscar - and his first film too.

Just one of your admirers JK!

About the movie, I thought the World Cup being in South Africa would have given it a second wind, particularly as the political subtext would have been so topical, but it didn't seem to.
