Nothing as distasteful as that, angel .... but you do have to pass the Chav estate to get to the leafier suburbs !

(PS - The Chav supermarket is open till 10pm - so the mothers can spend their child benefit on gin and ciggies - and I have called from time to time)

these type of polls are not representative of the general public-it's really only a poll of people who watched that particular segment on one outlet.

You have to be so careful of polls in general.

A good example is all the polls done in the USA which invariably give a skewered view-as opposed to the great intellectual Naom Chomsky who has organised polls for decades via a number of universities throughout the USA.

In the past he has had at times--nearly a thousand students from every state in the USA poll people exstensively over weeks and published the results that give an amazing picture of what the majority of Americans really want.

And the results ?..almost always the same as most Brits and Europeans...socialised medicine, minimum indexed wages, 'nanny' state and so on but to read the US media you will never know.

PS : ITK- No-one gets anything for nothing. Every single person in GB is a taxpayer via GST if nothing else.

Doesn't mean those taxes are distributed fairly or sensibly of course.

But you don't get poor people for nothing either..poor, disadvantaged people in great numbers mean increased crime.

Increased costs in controlling crime-jailing people and so on is the most unproductive spending of all.

(end of today's lecture )

THE CHAVS

New Labour have created a distinct underclass of white english ( and Welsh etc ) in the UK by their policies.

The benefit cuts are going to frighten the Vicky Pollards of this class.

However, I still dont see politicians of ANY party taking money from the BANKERS.

We were told in the election EVERY party would tax bonuses heavily - but so far we see nothing to suggest that this is happening ? Why ?

This is unfair - and if the co-altion does not tax the rich bankers as well they will lose Public Support. If we are to share the pain - then it does not just mean people on benefit having pain.

Oh yes they do, veritas !

FREE council houses (all you have to do is get pregnant and that guarantees not having to work for the next 16 years !)

FREE Housing benefit (while the rest of us pay for our - and THEIR - services)

FREE Council Tax (ditto above)

plus free dental care, prescriptions, opticians etc etc etc

NO ONE has a right to something for nothing ... those who have been doing it for so long are about to get a big shock !

We have already spent a fortune on educating these people - whose fault is it if they leave education and are too thick to get a job?

PS - I note this morning that NICE have now, at last, agreed to finance an Alzeimers drug which has been denied to (longtime tax-paying?) sufferers thus far.

Take from the scroungers - and there is more money to go where it should be going.

Every penny spent on scroungers is a penny less on the NHS, education, medical care, social care, housing etc etc etc

Surely council houses aren't free ?..they pay rent.

Perhaps council housing should be more like it is in Australia where people pay a percentage of their income. The higher your income the more you pay.

It's worked out so that overall it's fair for everyone. Those who buy get fantastic first home owners grants and a range of subsidies so they can't accuse council tennants of getting anything fo free...and all those grants obviously increase in value over the years as the house price rises.

Council house numbers in Britain have plummeted since Thatcher whilst everywhere else including the USA the numbers have risen.

I think there should be even more social housings.

Council tax is the most unfair tax of all..should be scrapped

Everyone gets free healthcare if they want it-don't they ?

who are all these scroungers you talk about ?..I reckon it's a fantasy. Unless you mean the ones like Murdoch who makes millions in Britain but has his companies registered in tax havens?

Think you're not entirely up with the British benefits system.
After a false allegation destroyed my life I now receive nearly £800 a month in benefits while sick.If you add on the freebies like medicine etc it's considerably more.I don't pay rent,or rates, there are those who take out much more than me.

Whilst I agree with your sentiment ITK, you cannot say that all those who live on sink estates abuse the system. It's a bt more complicated than that.

A bit, angel - but not alot !

We as a society have alot to blame.
My Grannies generation would never have sponged as this lot do today (and would probably have starved rather than claim anything - even things they were fully entitled to).

Just what I have been saying.

Whilest we must protect those who are genuinely sick, and the vulnerable (disabled etc) - there are thousands upon thousands who simply will not work (hence 1.5 million who haven't worked for more than nine years !)

The system at present makes it beneficial to them to stay at homec - and more fool us for putting up with it !

No they don't ... thats the whole point !
The vast majority of Council tenants pay no rent at all - because Housing Benefit pays for it !

but we didn't want your Granny to starve that's why we (on the left) fought for conditions so she would be looked after. Even my dad who was a banker voted for the welfare state.

However I know there are whole generations now that go without a job and I don't believe overall the vast majority want that.

I've seen so many younger people who seemed destined for life on benefits given a chance of work and they really blossom.

But I don't know where all these jobs will come from as both left and right governments have actively encouraged sending industry to the third world on the phony claim it will help them when all it does is lower wage costs but product costs stay the same and profits boom.

And if you don't have a population than can spend the whole economy collapses which is why welfare pumps billions back into the economy every week.

As an example- Aust was the only country to avoid the recent world-wide recession and that's because St Kevin Rudd gave everyone -from the unemployed , pensioners to families a few thousand $$$ bonus-and told them (like the Pools winner) to spend spend spend...which they did (local Chavs all now have flat screen tvs !) but it was the pyschological boost that worked.

Then again if the Chinese economy collapses-we are doomed.

QED ! - I think we are making progress LOL !

Re - Jobs ... there are plenty of jobs out there - if people are not qualified, whose fault is that?

We've already spent billions of their education - and only when they realise that it will be their fault if they are unemployable, will they start to reap the benefits of the education we provide (again, free of charge !)
