It doesn't seem to be settling here in London but it may do tonight.

Took some footage of the snow coming down on my camcorder earlier, haven't seen it come down like this for years and we've had it non stop for 6 hours!

You people are mad. I've got to go to London tomorrow and I'm very stressed. If this was Japan they'd just move the weather on, like they do for rock concerts.

A nice dusting so far in NW London in the suburbs and further out it seems to have settled. Kept snowing for most of the day and more is forecast.

Always puts everyone in a good mood at this time of year with the lights and Christmas songs playing in the shops and on the video channels ( Bliss and Magic already doing 24 hour Christmas videos !!! )

and it's the first day of summer in Oz.

pissing down with rain that is supposed to last for a week.

we should be basking on the beach today and plumping up our skin cancers.

the world's weather is going haywire.

Last night I watched a politician saying global change is rubbish and a lefty plot and that the earth had periods of great heat before.

He neglected to say that the heat was followed by the ice age.

Found this on an IDEAS INTERCHANGE FORUM from a Weather expert about what is happening :

"This cold thing that you have got in the Cold Damp Island at the moment is not to do with the gulf stream, its to do with a high pressure over Greenland rotating clockwise and a low pressure over Scandinavia rotating anti clockwise. You lot are in the middle of them and they are drawing cold air straight from the arctic right over the top of you there and will do so for quiet a while yet until they fade away.
The gulf stream possible problem is to do with you not getting your usual warm currents from the Caribbean to the northern Atlantic and this will cool the seas around you making the place even more chilly and miserable than usual.
If this is the case and the ''loop currents'' are disrupted then you will get a really nasty prolonged winter chill from about January onwards.
Maybe its not true, we are investigating it at the moment and I'll keep you informed. "

So the current cold spell is not really related to the Gulf Stream problems - but if the Gulf Stream is messed up January will be very very very harsh...last year was bad enough I might add.

Kent/Susses could be setting up as a SKI resort in the Winter if they can find some good hills and a Wine Maker in the summer...crazy UK weather.

The Beeb seem to be panicking. They've been cancelling loads of interviews today because of potential train delays. Seems a bit OTT to me.

Re:SNOW!! 13 Years, 5 Months ago
Rail is almost at a standstill because they cant cope with the combination of snow AND ice on the points. My local station is running ONE train an hour ( if lucky) and the Northern Line outside in North London has been suspended....the airports are all closed.

Tonight we are going to get 8 INCHES of snow according the new weather warning issued just now.

The whole transport infrastructure is collapsing with the M25 - M1 - M20 gridlocking in the snow and ice tonight already and people stranded in stations on trains.

Gritting is having no effect because the snow is covering it and making it worthless.

With temperatures getting colder tomorrow and Friday and more snow things are going to get worse. This is the THIRD "Winter Snow Storm" in the last 2 years ( 2009 - and Jan 2010 and now Nov.Dec 2010 ) and it shows the weather is getting worse.

Moaning is no good. Best thing is to "hunker down" as they do in other countries who are used to this weather. The centre of London is still moving - so day to day business carries on but once you get to near the M25 the country is at a standstill.

Fantastic. I love snow "!

Yep it's big news now its hit you lot in the South. We've been snowed in since Saturday with motorways unpassable, schools closed throughout Scotland and shops running out of supplies. Its the heaviest snowfall I can remember so brace yourselves!
