The beer and bacon industry can surely not be too worried about this one.....

What strikes me is that if Saudi Arabia and Iran are making such a fuss about the offensive cartoons, why don't they just bring a lawsuit against the publishers in Denmark for incitement to racial hatred (can't remember the actual wording, but such legislation exists in most European countries and is regularly called on)?

Could it be that this is all a smokescreen? Surely not!

Iran have a lot of hatred to answer to themselves. Murdering gay people and children for a start.I'm not particularly concerned about Iran's rights to have nuclear fuel or whether someone gets upset over a drawing, but I do object to people being hanged just for being homosexual or for being a 15 year old girl suspected of having an affair outside of her marriage.

Their president has stated the Holocaust is a myth and that it never happened. 18 Years, 2 Months ago
Is there any truth in the rumour that the Iranian president is going to release a debut single, a cover of the old Boney M classic "Hooray Hooray it's the holo-holocaust" ?

Actually, that`s a more interesting one than you think...a guitarist that I am working with, used to work at the brewery in England where Carlsberg was brewed, quite how much Danish beer is brewed by Danes is debatable.
Personally I hate lager, so perhaps I should make that big move to Iran:evil:

Well I know you're joking Martin but the one time I went to Iran/Persia in 1963... 18 Years, 2 Months ago
I thought they were the most physically beautiful race I'd ever seen.
Tehran is gorgeous - wide boulevards; huge snow capped mountains across the sea/lake.
You could do worse.

and the head of the Israeli terror squads is quoted on Teletext (p 113 I think) saying they now regret having encouraged the Yankers to "overthrow" Saddam.

He is quoted as saying that a strong dictatorship was preferable to the bloody uncontrollable mess they have now !

When I was last in Copenhagen there was a Tuburg beer factory just around the corner.

You never hear that name now in the UK, but it was by far the best knosn over there !

Well you lot know me, I am certainly fascinated by the food, and culture,of anywhere, I remember reading in the seventies, and I think it was Patrick Moore who said it, that the next war , would be a race war, and it horrifies me to see that it would appear to be. I do not have a racist bone in my body, I simply do not understand racism. I often make glib sexist jokes, to keep in with british humour, but I could never mean it.
Unfortunately, I do beieve this "war" has been caused by a lack of understanding between humour and cultures.
It`s a shame .
To quote Joe Jackson..."If theres war between the sexes then ther`ll be no people left".
Sorry that was a bit deep, wheres the danish lager??

Martin, " I do not have a racist bone in my body " (cliche) It's natural for people to favour those they identify with. People born to the same.... 18 Years, 2 Months ago
parents as you, those who live in you home, or the same country as you, those who support you favourite team, those you work with, people you feel look similar to you.

At some time in you life, you will have formed an opinion of somebody, based on their colour, and that is where racism begins.

I would love to agree, Mr or Mrs Visitor, but I cannot I am afraid. My skin colour would appear to be halfway between most peoples, and I have had friends whose skin colour I have never even noticed. Cultures , of different sorts, however , have allways fascinated me.
Where would we be without so many different influences to our societies? life would be very boring.....
