Ooooo, look, he's like a young Tony Blair.

I'd be suspicious of anyone, especially whern he's called Barnaby, who actively pursues a career in politics.

anyone remember the radicals of yesteryear?

People like Tariq Ali (who disappeared) or Peter Hain (who sold his soul for a job and became a Toady-Boy)

I agree ITK-Peter Hain turned out to be an extraordinary disappointment after what he had been through.

I respect Tariq Ali-probably far too intellectual to stay in politics.

I just love that there is a young generation that are still passionate about anything as this kid seems.

Perhaps he will join the Tories..even better !

(he does sound like a young Blair -don't hold that against him )

Far too rich and independent for anything so demeaning, Angel !

(Remind me to invite you to my estate one day).

I'm on record, veritas, for having previously chided the young for FAILING to have any passion, or for failing to get involved in anything !

WE (in the 60s) brought the Vietnam war to an end !

I'm just rather disappointed that WHEN they do go out and protest - they clearly don't understand the background - and are voting against something that is actually better for them in the long run.

Where were they when we were invading Iraq and Afghanistan ?

That'll explain why it rumbled on to 1975...

"Where were they when we were invading Iraq and Afghanistan ?"

Chronology, old chap,chronology...

Today's 18 year olds would then have been 9 when the UK and the US invaded Afghanistan.

And 11 when they invaded Iraq.

The young man at the top of the thread would have been either 6 or 8 depending on which military campaign you appear to expect him to
have protested about at the time {unless to for some reason he's exempt from the rather large blanket group to which you are generically referring }.

I think a lack of political consciousness at those ages can perhaps be excused.

The older ones currently protesting probably were similarly protesting about the military adventures contemporaneously. But you're not citing them.

I think you know what I mean .... that ever since the late 60s the teenagers have been devoid of any real interest in anything other than themselves !
