RIP Pete Postlethwaite 13 Years, 4 Months ago
One of my favourite actors - up there with Alun Armstrong; a huge talent.
I saw him in many stage and film shows.

Shocked to hear this - he was a sensitive character and an accomplished actor.

Can anyone remember the name of the TV play that he starred in (with Thora Hird playing his mother who had dimensia) ?

One of our regular posters gave me the wonderful novel it was based on for Christmas many years ago but I've forgotten the title!

That's the title, not a statement.

It really is a great book, written by Deric Longden. It's available from Amazon. I tend to re-read it every five years or so, and enjoy it every time.

I never saw Pete Postlethwaite live on stage unfortunately, but I greatly enjoyed him in his well known film roles, especially In the Name of the Father and Brassed Off, but most of all in the Sharpe series opposite Sean Bean.

He seemed like an affable and down to earth chap, and strikingly handsome in an unusual way. What a shame we won't be seeing anymore performances.
