But the 'outrage' is totally out of proportion.

I find both of them loathsome - Keys, especially, strikes me as a really nasty piece of work - but it's obvious Gray's sacking has much to do with his case against the News of the World. If they let Keys stay they'll be inviting stronger accusations than that.

Sky Sports should set an example and give their jobs to female presenters. Preferably ones with really big tits.

If the views were broadcast, then they would be right to sack them, however the views were expressed off camera and were thus a private conversation recorded by a daily mail reading sneak.

To sack these too is then completely against the principles of free speech. Will all private conversations in future be subject to scrutiny.

I like Angel's suggestion. It is another example of the silly media inflating a story and I'm sure no co-incidence that Murdoch doesn't like Gray (why did Sky employ him?).

Andy Gray, like many of his fellow sports commentators, was giving his opinion of a official. Most officials may have taken it in the chin, but some women demand preferential treatment. Equality is enough for them.

"Andy Gray sacked by Murderoch in retaliation for suing the NOTW" would be a more truthful headline today... as would "Working Class Ex-Footballers Not Polictically Correct Card-Carrying Lefties Like Their Hand-Wringing Media Colleagues Shock!"
This is just another example of gross hypocrisy, but they crossed to many lines at once - nobody in football is allowed to criticize the FA's set-up with its officials for a start! Never under-estimate the collective web of collusion between the FA, it's sponsers & the media.
It's also clearly another bullet in the war of emasculation... Witches may cackle away about blokes and their failings every day on Loose Women, but if a couple of pillocks are caught making similarly disparaging sexist comments in private elsewhere, it's a hanging matter.

1. He wasn't 'giving his opinion,' he was spouting abuse. Sexual or racial, this kind of so-called 'banter' shouldn't be excused.
2. The woman in question did not respond at all, so why you're suggesting she wanted 'preferential treatment,' or anything other than equal respect is a mystery. It was other people who complained, and good for them.

Now Keys has gone. Good riddance. I've met quite a few people who've worked with him and Gray and I've heard nothing but negative comments about them.

If you think about it it was a private conversation that got picked on their mics. They are best pundits on Sky Sports it won;t be the same. Sky are nit picking in to Grays past who hasen't leered at woman on stage before ?

Bring back Keys and Gray.

Not being a football fan I'm fairly vague about the talents of those who mutter "they think it's all over - it is now" and other such great and meaningful comments on the state of society but it does amuse me that the corporation firing men for sniggering at women makes most of its money catering to those who adore sneering at breasts at breakfast.
Goodness - they will be abusing children by printing false stories about pre pubescent fathers next.
