Just been sent some files of Kenny's BBC TV series in the mid 1980s.
Absolutely wonderful stuff, although not quite to the heights of his Lord Thames' series, however one character really did add to the enjoyment for me that seems to be forgotten - Reg Prescott, the hapless DIY expert who injured himself each week.
It's a real shame that given his talent for character comedy that he wasn't actually given a sitcom series like Ronnie Barker had. He proved in the much maligned and very under-rated Bloodbath at the House of Death, the movie he did, that he could act outside of sketch shows.
All a damn shame, although I suppose he was a radio person in truth.

Well...it's stopped most people when it comes to great sitcoms. Kenny was at home in very brief sketches, with the crew laughing rather self-consciously. I think he found his best format for TV and made the most of it. But on radio he was a true genius.

I agree..I couldn't get out of bed and get to work without listening to Kenny when he was on morning radio..he got me laughing and out of the fog of a hangover so many times !!
never took to him on TV and I'm afraid that after he supported Maggie so openly it just turned me of him. I think that was also a bad career move.
