perhaps veritas can answer this ? 12 Years, 8 Months ago
The proportion of 18 to 24-year-olds in England not in employment, education or training (Neet) has risen to 18.4%, official figures suggest.

The figure from the Department for Education is the highest for the second quarter since 2006, and is up from 16.3% last year.

Nearly a million (979,000) 16 to 24-year-olds were Neet between April and June this year, the figures show.

you've got me ! I don't know.

It really is a disastrous figure and it shows that all governments over the past 2 decades have ignored a potential time bomb.

what would you do with them ?

I think this is because of the changing world enabling more and more young people to exist without working in traditional jobs by spending time online.

I know what I wouldn't do with them ITK....take them off the dole !
as it would mean suddenly around £57million being taken out of the economy every week..

wot a disaster !..pubs, small businesses going broke !

I know your solution is to put them up against he wall..but bullets are expensive...and the same result..small businesses collapsing

NB; your comments about means testing in Oz didn't really tell the full picture. I'm quite shocked to see that with savings of a paltry £16,000 in the UK you won't receive the dole !!

In Australia you can have £85000 ! (plus one property of any value)..and even then it's on a sliding scale.

## as I say..in New Zealand even now with a conservative government, they don't even have means testing. Just shows ....all those Scottish and Northern European immigrants won't take sh*t from anybody.

I've supplied an answer to this posting {twice, I think but I'm prepared to accept that perhaps the first one got lost in the system}. My posting{s} appear to have been deleted although completely accurate according to the statements of the person concerned.

I'm not about to become arsey about this, but I just wondered why?

Because it was over simplified, out of context and therefore inflammatory!

Fair enough, I trust you removed the suggestion that prompted my words too?

If that were the criteria then ITK would never get another post published again

Rubbing out the result is never as effective as banishing the cause.
seems to me a single person's bad manners results in 99% of the problems here.I'd like to see more specialist debates here, not stupid utterances in support of the failed governmental system we have inherited.

Yes it would. It's taxpayer's money being re-distributed to almost a million that you have identified (let alone all the others).

If it wasn't pumped back into the economy small business would plummet ( as would many others-utilities and so on).

In fact I was staggered to read how little unemployment payments are in Britain.
I have no idea how anyone survives on it.

This is really simple economics that even you should understand..afterall the Tories and (nu)Labour agree with me because they keep paying it !

you are alone on this one.
