Yes. I loved the mood throughout - a sort of dramatic riff. The one problem with all the spy dramas that have followed Le Carre, however, is that they have turned that idea of realism into a new cliche - you just know how each one will end. The most surprising thing one can do is have an upbeat ending.
Except one of the great things about Spooks was the key characters dying; something that became a cliche (and not wishing to be a spoiler, one reason why I expected but didn't admire the ending).
