Watching that old footage of Maggie 12 Years, 1 Month ago
draping a hanky over the tail painting on a British Airways jet model... don't you miss the days when politicians dared to express opinions, offend people and do what they thought was right though unpopular (and often be wrong)?
Instead of the sanitary towels running our country today.

I know you liked Maggie as a person but didn’t often agree with her policies. I never met her, but when you consider the state of the country before she came to power, I think she got most of her policies right. We had to swallow some foul medicine, but it got us better. Where I think she only started getting things wrong was once we were fully recovered.

I liked her enormously - charismatic, attractive, witty, intelligent. And I thought her economic policies sound. Just wasn't keen on her social ones (although, as a person, she was very Gay friendly - just ask Matthew Parris).

I watched an interview from the 80's by Kirsty Wark. Thatcher was advised by Bernard Ingham not to do the interview because it would be more appropriate if a man carried it out. At the time it was Kirsty Wark's biggest job. She ruffled Thatchers feathers so much that it was hard to believe she ran the country. Never thought a so called Iron Lady would crumble into such an inarticulate amateur.

Social policies, such as selling off council houses for a song! I gather this one is being re-born by the ConDems, only this time they want to give council tenants a £75,000 discount! I wonder if they intend to do anything for private tenants who would dearly love to buy their own place but can't afford to? The ghost of the Iron Lady's social agenda has come back to haunt us I'm afraid...

She did some good things and some bad things.
Good Things:
Stood up to strikers.
Poll Tax - fairer than council tax as it doesn't prejudice people living on their own.
Bad Things
Sold off council houses - Now there is no social housing for low paid workers.
The Falklands war - like 2 bald men fighting over a comb, 100s killed to save an island of 1500 people, whose lives weren't under threat.
3.5 million unemployed - a whole generation was lost

Yes she saved us from the loony left - and healed us from being the "sick man of Europe".
Milipede, with his "I dont support unions, well I do, but I dont sometimes" rhetoric is trying to turn the clock back.
