Do you consider it an improvement?
We seem to have far more visitors but I've noticed fewer posts from some of our old regulars... indeed, fewer posts generally; though many more people reading them.
As usual, the TIPSHEET board has many more readers than YOUR VIEWS - about twice the number; which implies to me that the majority of visitors are interested in the music aspects, although there are thousands who DO appear to enjoy the broader range of topics we represent on Your Views too.
I'd like to convert the many passive observers into contributors - but that's up to you.
If you prefer reading to writing, it's fine by me.
But think about adding your voice and opinions - and please DO keep posting tips.

It`s better but... 18 Years ago
One of my old friends, has told me he contributes less, as he preferred the old message boards.
I had an e-mail the other day, that said that they had been reading and enjoying the posts for some time. Those of us that write, like to be read, so that`s fine.
I allways read the music press, but it is a long time since I have written in.
The written word , on a message board, can often be misconstrued, due to the lack of expression in the typed word, but on this board you can this , and it does help!

I love this new site; I just seem to have less to say these days.

well I have to say that I find aspects of it awkward - mainly trying to work
my way backwards.

Is it because I am using a new iMac or is it the functionality of
the site.

Using the original b/w tisheet board was a breeze - maybe I just have to get used to the way this one navigates.

The way messages and their threads are arranged
tends to drain my energy - trying to work out where to go
next .. that wort of thing.

Going back to the main thread index ...

To summarise - one word "Awkward"

Having said that I will say that I still enjoy coming here
and reading Jonathan's and everyones postings.

Jolly good spot.

I like 'em, don't look at Your Views too much, I'm here to discuss music. It would be better if others wanted to discuss the industry in depth too, a lot of my attempts have resulted in no responses. Maybe ROTD is a better place for those kind of discussions but there's too many flamers on that site.

Yeh but.......... 18 Years ago
There is so much music on ROTD, you cannot possibly go through it all.
That said, perhaps we should submit a tune , at least of the week, to these pages.

The old board was simpler but this is better 18 Years ago
I think once you've worked out to go into FLAT or THREADED mode and know how to see the basic posts without having to read them all, it's fine.
I can't read the ROTD board - it's so dull and seems populated by nobodies.

It easier to read posts well spaced out and bigger text.

I found it confusing at first (although not sure why) - but its a great improvement when you are used to it.

I don't take this board for granted in any way, and truly appreciate it, however I find the new board hard on the eyes. Particularly when scrolling trying to find something.

I've been in studio so havn't been around much lately.

I liked the original new board better than the current version ... 18 Years ago
to show all answers to a thread on the start page makes little sense (only if you use the subject line as a one line answer, but most people use the automatic RE:, so there is no useful information, apart from the name of the poster).

Since you made this change, the side takes very long to load for modem users.

So maybe it is possible to show fewer threads per page to minimise the loading time.

Re:I liked the original new board better than the current version ... 18 Years ago
I found it a bit confusing at first, but fine now I've got used to the new moves. I haven't been around since my computer is in the process of being converted for recording use only. I now have another machine for the net, email etc. All exciting stuff...I have a whole new catalogue in the works and should be ready towards the end of the year. A big hello to all the regulars.

DJones - changes made; should load much faster now 18 Years ago
I've taken "alternative" out of the titles.
Mat; we're happy for anyone to post on any subject on either board but Tipsheet tends to be more music; YV more general and personal.
Thank you all for your thoughts and opinions.

Thanks, JK. The size of this site is still big (250 KB) ... 18 Years ago
but much better than before (400 KB).

Maybe you could re-group the titles (links) on the left, for example: all sites were the public can post together.

Yes, so it's different. But then so is the i-Pod and online sales. We get used to it.

But one thing is for sure: a board is only as good as the people that contribute to it (not fogetting the erstwhile moderators that must contribute a fair amount of time).
