The Top Ten is unsullied by priorities; all those are climbing from download weeks to the 10-20 area, meaning just a few physicals are crossing counters.
And we'll bet sales have dropped off alarmingly.
Hype killed TOTP and the impact of the chart.
Now we need to replace that with an alternative method of assessing popularity and acquiring media attention, to alert the public to genuinely interesting music which they then will slowly but surely start purchasing.
It's like beginning again, innit?

I've been finding that FAB Chart quite fun to follow.

Where's that Pop-i(?) chart which you mentioned, JK? I might check it out.

I used to always follow the BBC singles chart, but over the last few years it became a bit stale. However, it did seem to be picking up slightly just before they axed TOTP. I wonder why the BBC put such clueless people in charge of that show?

If you look at it from the right angle these are very exciting times.

I hadn't actually considered this in my anti-chart rant last week...

If the chart is no longer shown on telly or used in shops then record companies won't want to try to manipulate it. Then once again it will reflect what the public is actually buying...
